Running for state House

steinburgBOB STEINBURG has announced his candidacy for the North Carolina House to represent the 2nd Distrct. He is challenging Tim Spear to represent Chowan, Dare, Washington and Hyde counties. He is active in Republican politics and wrote “A Conservative’s Viewpoint“ column that ran in newspapers throughout North Carolina untll the recent announcement of his candidacy. A resident of Edenton, Steinburg is serving his second term as chairman of the Chowan County Republican party and serves on the state Republican Party’s executive committee. He was also elected by his 23 fellow Republican county chairpersons in North Carolina’s 1st Congressional District to represent them on the state Republican Party’s County Chairman Association’s Executive Board

  Education is key to the state’s economic recovery and well-being, he said  He also supports attracting new businesses and keeping old ones, and getting people back to work. A life-long Episcopalian, Steinburg is a lay reader, Eucharistic minister and a member of the Pastoral Care Committee at St. Paul’s in Edenton.  He is serving his third term as chairman of the board of directors of the nonprofit Edenton Emergency Aid. He is also a volunteer with the Edenton Historical Commission at the town’s historic Barker House.  A native of Oswego, N.Y., Steinburg worked in sales and marketing in Midlothian, Va. before moving to Edenton in 2005. He has an associate’s degree from Corning Community College and earned a bachelor’s degree from Upper Iowa University. He and his wife, the former Marie Miceli, have been married for 38 years. The couple has two sons and one grandchild.
