Beach Book art competition begins

Dare County Arts Council and The Beach Book will hold the 15th annual Beach Book Cover Art Competition art show Oct. 1-30, at Dare County Arts Council Gallery in downtown Manteo. The winning art work will grace the cover of more than 65,000 editions of the 2011 Beach Book Telephone Directory, and about 100 limited edition prints will be made, with 50 going to the artist.
Delivery of art work is scheduled for Sept. 27-29, 10-5, at the gallery in the old Dare County courthouse in downtown Manteo. Artists working in all media are encouraged to express the cultural beauty and many resources of the Outer Banks community.
DCAC and The Beach Book invite the public to attend the opening reception Friday, Oct. 1, 6-8 p.m. Winning entries will be revealed during the opening, and the public will have an opportunity to vote for the People’s Choice Award.
