Evacuation orders lifted

By Linda Putnam

The evacuation orders for northern Dare County have been lifted and visitors and residents may re-enter at any time.

The town of Duck has water on the road in the typical areas that experience flooding during any storm with heavy rains. The areain southern Duck at the intersection of Duck Road and the Tuckahoe subdivision is still experiencing some flooding. Although it is passable, caution, patience and extra time should be allocated when returning to Duck and Corolla.

Re-entry to Hatteras Island from Bonner Bridge will be allowed beginning 7 a.m. Saturday. Water is still on the road in some places on Hatteras Island and it is hard to judge how deep it may be, so caution is advised.

The bridges leading to Dare County are open and no re-entry pass is required. Visitors planning travel to the county should first consult their accommodations provider to confirm lodging reservations.
