Walk for the Mind planned
ByThe second annual Walk for the Mind will be held Sept. 11, 9 a.m., at Roanoke Island Festival Park.
Sponsored by GEM Adult Services, this walk will help to support local care givers, and community members suffering from dementia. With the money raised, GEM will provide scholarships and community workshops for local veterans and all Dare County families that will benefit from the program.
There will be several speakers, one on being a care giver for someone with dementia and another to speak on behalf of the local support group for the Wounded Warrior Project. This project aims to honor and empower wounded warriors, to raise awareness and enlist the public’s aid for the needs of severely injured service men and women.
